Warning:
Based on the nature of the problem a BIOS upgrade may not be possible in all cases.
If that is the case the only alternative is to RMA/replace the unit (if still within valid subscription/warranty).
The upgrade procedure will validate the flash image consistency and if any errors are found it will abort the
upgrade without making any changes. Always back-up your configuration before proceeding!
How to check BIOS version and update the E20 BIOS
Check BIOS version
- Run the command "sysmsg" in the console view (baud-rate is 9600 if you haven't changed the default).

Update the BIOS version
Warning:
Based on the nature of the problem a BIOS upgrade may not be possible in all cases.
If that is the case the only alternative is to RMA/replace the unit (if still within valid subscription/warranty).
The upgrade procedure will validate the flash image consistency and report if any errors found making the upgrade impossible.
Always back-up your configuration before proceeding!
Procedure
- When Etcher is done flashing the USB-stick, insert the USB-stick into one of the USB-ports on the E20A.
- To be able to validate the update process connect to your E20 console (baud-rate is now 115200) before starting the upgrade procedure.
- Power on the system.
- The system will power off the system by itself after the upgrade procedure is finished.
Check BIOS version after update
- Connect the E20 device to your console (baud-rate is 9600 if you haven't changed the default).
- Turn on the E20 device.
- Run the command "sysmsg" again.
- Now the BIOS version should show Clavister_E80_E20-01.00.00.04.
