Where to find logs related to the InControl server, client, ILA or Log receiver

InControl server, client, ILA and the Log Receiver all have separate error logs that can in many situations contains additional information about an encountered problem.

Intro

Sometimes there may be situations where InControl and/or related programs behave in an unexpected way and/or we want to be able to try get more information about a message, popup or other and the Audit log in InControl may not contain enough details about about potential reasons. The next step then would be to have a look at some of the error logs that the InControl client, server and more is generating in the background.

This guide will describe where to find these logs.

InControl Client logs

Error logs

%localappdata%\Clavister\InControl\Client\logs\icc_log.txt

Changing log levels. The below should only be used/changed when recommended by Clavister Support.

During installation, “Only for this user”:

%localappdata%\Clavister\InControl\Client\ICC.exe.nlog

During installation, “For everyone on the system”:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Clavister\InControl\Client

InControl Server logs

Error logs

%programdata%\Clavister\InControl\Server\logs\ics_log.tx

Changing log levels. The below should only be used/changed when recommended by Clavister Support.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Clavister\InControl\Server\ICS.exe.nlog

Note: To increase the log level, and collect more data in the file (ics_log.txt) configure the setting “minlevel” in the file ICS.exe.nlog, for instance changing the default value “Info” to “Debug” or “Trace”

ILA (InControl Logging Agent) logs
